Tenure of IHBAS Director: HC demands Delhi govt’s reply on the plea

New Delhi, November 23, : Tuesdays Delhi High Court hearing heard that the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government and other parties had to reply to a petition challenging Dr Nimesh G.Desais extension of his tenure as chief of the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences.

This resolution allowed the Council to extend the term of the Director until he reaches 67.The Council also approved that the screening committee process be stopped from March 2022, which would have meant the Council could not select a new director. This decision contradicts the affidavits of the respondents as well as the September 23rd 2021 order passed by this Court.

In the plea, respondents were also accused of clearly misleading the Court in seeking to determine the appropriate time to appoint a new Director. The Court has not yet decided on the merits.
