“Illegal 2” is a drama that takes place in the underbelly and criminal justice system. It features lawyers, police officers, politicians, criminals, victims, and other actors.

Voot Select streaming it on Voot Select is an engaging drama that aims to expose the atrocities in its universe. It addresses the issues of power and how business is done in our legal system and political system, as well as the compromises we make to get through the day.

After Season 1, Niharika (Neha S Sharma), a once-aspiring lawyer, has quickly become a force to be reckoned with. She joins hands with the Public Prosecutor to fight Janardhan Jaitley, her mentor and politician who is now aspiring to become the Chief Minister.

Puneet and Niharika struggle to set up an office when they are financially strapped. The crux of “Illegal 2” is how they pick clients and cases, while also dealing with personal issues.

These cases involving Corporate and Criminal law are both common and often reported in daily newspapers. When it comes to legal proceedings, more attention is paid than to courtroom drama to research and investigation, and “being ahead the opponent” in order to solve cases.

As a viewer, it is easy to relate to the cases and root for the problems.

The first four episodes are a pleasant and easy-going affair.

However, the fifth episode’s romantic connection between Raghav and Niharika is a complete surprise.Their overtly constructed relationship is a sign of lazy writing.

Janardhan Jaitley’s interaction with his lackeys makes you wonder why all the lackeys are stereotyped to be goons.

Each character in this series plays an important role in the script.

However, the main focus is on Neha Sharma as Niharika. She delivers a flawless, well-tuned performance.

Tanuj Virwani, her love interest Raghav malhotra, and Akshay Oberoi, the man in-between on all fronts, are both excellently supported by her.

Kriti Vij, Surekha or Sue’s love interest, and Satyadeep Misha, as Puneet Tandon, make a great pair.Unfortunately, they don’t get enough screen time.

Stereotypical Piyush Mishra is the sneaky, unscrupulous politician.Achint Kaur is Chief Minister Mrinalini Sing.

These 35-minute episodes are easy to binge-watch and feature compelling plot twists.

The series about the “powerful” and the “powerless” completely romanticizes the Indian legal system, making them seem cooler and more glamorous than they actually are.
