IANS Review: “Dobaaraa” The film is a thrilling one that’ll stay in your mind for quite a while (IANS Rating of ***1/2)

Cast: Taapsee Pannu, Rahul Bhat, Pavail Gulati and Sukant Goel.IANS rating IANS rating: ***1/2 Anurag Kashyap is back dobara (once again) with "Dobaaraa," two years since his last streaming movie Choked was released on Netflix.The film is not only the reunion with the Manmarziyaan actor Taapsee Pannu and Taapsee Pannu, but also marks his return to the genre of thrillers, his previous movie was the Vicky Kaushal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer "Raman Raghav 2.0.The film is a remake of the Spanish mystery-drama film "Mirage".Kashyap, who is well-known for his quirky stories and witty dialogue, is never a lull in the movie as he creates a superb action thriller that keeps you captivated until the very end and will remain in your mind even after youve been taken out of the theater.

The way in which the film is presented to the film is so that you must be a fervent spectator, as the devil is in the small details.The movie tells the tale of nurse Antara Vashisht (played by Taapsee Pannu) who saves a young child named Anay from death by altering past events in the past via the use of a television.

This is the area where it gets interesting.Changes in past events have effects on Antaras current and future, since both are changed, which is referred to as the "Consistency Paradox" in Physics which is often overlooked in the vast majority of films dealing with time travel.

The film demands active audience participation as it navigates the tricky streets of the four timelines, each influenced by the other, similar to as the butterfly effect.Kashyap is able to deliver a great narrative and flesh out his characters in 2 hours and 12 minutes (2:12, dobaarah, dont overlook the word play!).Theres not one boring scene in the movie.

The creator moonwalks across the four timelines and doesnt miss out on any aspect.He puts into motion the domino effect with what is described as an "glitch in the matrix".

As the film moves forward each domino tile completes its job, thus creating the puzzle that "Dobaaraa" is.With "Dobaaraa," Kashyap reminds the viewers that he is a great writer and a great filmmaker.Kashyaps story is well-supported by his team of.Taapsee as the leader of the pack, is a part of the movies universe in a completely unique way.You can discover a different aspect of Taapsee as an actress.Rahul Bhat who plays the character of the character of Taapsees husband in the movie, and who has returned with Anurag following the shockingly dark Ugly film, does an amazing job.He makes you dislike the character with his flawlessly drawn attitude and antics.Pavail Gulati, who plays a kind and thoughtful police officer, also is a skilled actor.

Behind a innocent appearance, the actor has the ability to express emotion without overdoing it as is required of his character.Sukant Goel who played an unnamed role in Dibakar Banerjees film in "Ghost Stories," has the lowest screen time of all of them, yet he is able to pull off an impressive performance.The actor is a joy to watch.

Like all Kashyap movies, the background score is quite impressive even though it sometimes sounds similar to the music of "Stranger Things".Sylvester Fonseca beautifully captures the details of the narrative in his lense.

Theres a scene in the film that sets up the standard aspect ratio of 4:3 of television by using the frame-inframe technique.It is clear that the cinematographer and director working in together like the parts of an appropriately wound-up clock.

The design team behind the production isnt alone.The props reveal the spirit of the mid-1990s, and make you relive an era that has gone by in your mind.

Overall Dobaaraa is a must-see film for anyone who appreciates good cinema.Could Dobaaraa be the second breakthrough event for Anurag after "Gangs of Wasseypur"? Or will it be a sleeper success, much as his previous films? This will be the subject of discussion in the coming weekend.aa/sr.
