Stalin rushes to accident site after IAF chopper crashes

Stalin has left Coimbatore on Wednesday to visit the crash site of the IAF helicopter.He was accompanied by Gen Bipin Rawat, Chief of Defence Staff, and other dignitariesHe will fly to Coimbatore by aircraft, and then he will drive to Coonoor.

He is likely reach the spot where the helicopter crashed by evening.A M17 Indian Air Force helicopter crashed at Coonoor, near Ooty.

The chopper was on its way from Sulur Air Force base to the Defense Services College at Wellington when it crashed.According to available information, the chopper took off from Sulur at 11.47 AM and crashed at 12.20 PM.The helicopter reached Wellington at 12.10 pm, but was unable to land.It was returning to Sulur, where it crashed.K.Ramachandran of Tamil Nadu Forests, who reached the spot, said to IANS: "I am here according to Chief Minister M.K.Stalin to supervise the rescue operations.The helicopter carried 14 people, but the airforce has not provided further details.
