Mumbai 29 August : Punjabi number “Kala Chashma” appears to be an instant hit with cricketers, with the Hong Kong team also recently seen dancing to the beats of its dancehall style after their win against hosts UAE in the Asia Cup qualifier last week.The Hong Kong cricket team, comprised mainly of expatriates of Pakistan including their captain Nizakat Khan, beat their favorite UAE by eight wickets on the 24th of August at Al Amerat in Oman to ensure a spot with India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in the Asia Cup currently underway in Dubai and Sharjah.
Following the win, which was achieved mostly due to the quick-fire half-century by opener Yasim Murtaza, Hong Kong players danced to the beat of the Punjabi song in their dressing rooms wearing dark shades.The video has since gone viral, gaining hundreds of followers on Instagram.
Hong Kong will take on India in their Group A match in the Asia Cup at the Dubai International Stadium on August 31 with the team playing Pakistan on September 2 in Sharjah.
But it’s their Punjabi-style celebration which has helped the team a huge increase, with netizens congratulating them and saying “aap log toh popular hog”aye” (you guys have become famous).
A third fan posted “Copy of Indian team” in reference to the Indian team dancing to the beat of the well-known Bollywood song after their 3-0 victory over Zimbabwe in the recently concluded One-Day International series.
