Shimla, Nov 27, : , The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announced Saturday a new pay scale to government employees effective January 2016. The Chief Minister addressed the Joint Coordination Committee of the Himachal Pradesh Non-Gazetted Employees Federation.
He stated that all pensioners and family members would be entitled to the revised pension and other benefits starting in January 2016.
The revised pay scales will include dearness relief and dearness allowance.
He stated that the state’s exchequer would be burdened by the new pay scales and the pension.
According to an office memorandum dated May 5, 2009 of the Central government to employees of the state, Thakur also announced that the new pension system would be implemented starting May 15, 2003.
This would add an additional burden of approximately Rs 250 crore to the state.
The Chief Minister also announced a reduction in the term of government contractual employees for regularisation of services from 3 years to 2 years.
He announced then that additional Rs 10 crore would be released to clear pending medical reimbursement bills.
Thakur stated that the state government spends approximately 43 percent of its total budget on employees, pensioners, and this would rise to 50 percent after the Sixth Pay Commission implementation.
The state has provided financial benefits to its employees and pensioners of Rs 1,320 crore over the past four years.
