Mata Vaishno Devi shrine stampede: High-ranking inquiry

On Saturday, Governor Manoj Sinha ordered a high-level inquiry into the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine stampede in which 20 people were injured and 12 died.

"Speak to Honble Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji.He was briefed about the incident.Todays stampede has been the subject of a high-level investigation.

Sinha stated on Twitter that the Inquiry Committee would be led by Principal Secretary (Home), with ADGP Jammu, Jammu, and Divisional Commissioner Jammu serving as its members.Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved Rs 2 lakh per person as ex-gratia relief for the next of kin to those who were killed during the stampede.

Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of India, announced that Rs 10 lakh would be paid to each next-of-kin to those who were killed in an attack on the Taliban and Rs 2 lakh to each of the wounded.A stampede was when large numbers of devotees entered Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan, without permission slips at 2.45 am Saturday.It took place outside of the shrines sanctum sanctorum.
