Kejriwal: Health infra stepped up to fight the 3rd Covid Wave

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kehriwal announced Tuesday that he had increased the capitals health infrastructure following the emergence Omicron of a new Covid-19 type.

This was to prevent another crisis like the one in the second wave."We hope Omicron doesnt come to India, but it is important that we are prepared.

After chairing a review of Covid-19 preparedness, the Delhi Chief Minister stated that 30,000 oxygen beds have been prepared and that around 10,000 are ICU beds.In April, India was hit by the second devastating wave.Delhi was among the worst affected.

There were no oxygen cylinders, beds or sufficient supplies.This led to the migration of workers and labourers from the state back to their home countries.

AAP leader, keeping in mind the second Covid wave, stated: "Besides, 6,800 ICU beds (intensive care unit), are under construction and should be ready by February.We will soon have 17,000 beds.We have made arrangements to prepare 100 oxygen beds in each Municipal ward with a two-week notice.27,000 oxygen beds can also be prepared quickly.He said that Corona (treatment) uses 32 types of medicines.

He also stated that a buffer stock of two month is being ordered to ensure that there is no shortage "Combining all the hospitals in Delhi, we have approximately 750 MT of oxygen capability.An additional 442 MT storage capacity is being prepared.

In addition to that, the PSA plants in Delhi generate 121 MT oxygen.The Chief Minister said that telemetry devices have been installed on all oxygen tanks in order to determine the oxygen availability per minute.
