Shimla : , Nov 21, 2011 – A variety of schemes were launched by the government in order to provide quality healthcare services for the Himachal Pradesh’s poorer sections, according to a Sunday statement. One of these is the free medicine program, which benefits those in need.
An official statement stated that the scheme provides free medicines to patients of various government-run health facilities.
All health facilities are free to use approximately 1,374 medications.In total, 885 medications are available for free in hospitals, medical colleges and civil hospitals.417 medicines can be found at primary healthcare centres, and 72 at the health sub-centre.
During the current government’s tenure, 162.9,425 medications were distributed under the free medical scheme.
The state has spent Rs.216 crore so far on medicines procurement.
In order to ensure that health facilities receive free medicine, the government has taken all necessary measures.To maintain the supply chain, procurement has been made easier.
All 12 Chief Medical Officers and four Medical Superintendents were authorized to purchase medicines through E-aushadhi portal.
Authorities issue regular procurement orders for essential medicine.
The government also has various programs to make modern healthcare facilities accessible for everyone.People are also being provided with specialized health services under Mukhyamantri Himachal Healthcare Yojana – Himcare.
