Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) 12 August : The headless body of an unidentified woman was discovered in the Lakkhipura area of Meerut district on Friday.The body of the woman, whom police suspect was in her 20s was first discovered by locals in an area of drainage near the lane number 28 in the Lakkhipura area.
Police believe the incident of the murder was committed elsewhere , and the headless body was discarded in the drainage to hide its its identity.
The body was sent to be examined for post-mortem examination.
The police spokesperson said that an expert team of forensic experts has been summoned to the scene.
Teams of police officers have been set up to reach out to locals and collect information of anyone missing women in the region.
The wireless messages are being sent out to collect the details of any women who have been reported missing in the towns nearby.The identity of the woman is still not determined.
In the month of March, a headless, decomposing body of an individual was found in similar fashion in a drainage in Meerut’s cantonment region.
