Gupkar Alliance is intact says Farooq Abdullah

Srinagar 25th August : Former chief minister and National Conference (NC) president Dr.Farooq Abdullah denied on Thursday that there were disagreements that could lead to the dissolution of the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD).

If neither of these things are in place an alliance cannot be successful".In response to the resolution passed by the provincial committee of the NC, Suhail Bukhari, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesperson stated, "PAGD was conceived for more than an electoral alliance.

If any member of the alliance has reservations about any form of electoral alliance it wont affect our unity in pursuit of the larger objective." The PAGD was established in the following of the repeal of Article 370 and downgrading of the state to the union territory.

The principals of the PAGD represent the renewal of Article 370 and statehood for J&K.One of its constituents The Congress has however, called for the return of statehood, but kept a low profile on the restoration of Article 370.sq/dp.
