Los Angeles, Nov 30, : Aldo Gucci, the chairman of Gucci Fashion House from 1953 to 1986, has released a statement stating that they are “a bit confused” by what they claim was their inaccurate Portrayal in Ridley Scott’s film ‘House of Gucci. The statement stated that the film’s production did not consult the heirs before describing Aldo Gucci, the president of the company for thirty years (played in the film by Al Pacino) — and the Gucci family members as thugs and ignorant to the world around them.
It stated that the pic “atone and attitude to the protagonists in the well-known events that never belonged” was another attribute.
Variety.com reported that it said, “This is extremely painful from the human point of view” and was an insult to the brand’s legacy.
The statement continues to criticize Milanese socialite PatriziaReggiani, played by Lady Gaga in “The Movie,” who was convicted of 1998 of facilitating Maurizio’s murder.Adam Driver also portrayed her in the film as a victim struggling to survive in a male-chauvinist corporate culture.
“This statement could not be further from truth,” it continues, claiming that Gucci was “an inclusive company” during the 70-year period when it was a family business.
The statement stated that during the 1980s, there were “many women” who held top positions at Gucci.
These included the president of Gucci America and the head of Global PR.She was also a member the Gucci America board of directors.
“Gucci is a family who lives honoring its ancestors’ work, whose memory doesn’t deserve to be disturbed to stage spectacles that are untrued and which do not justice to its protagonists,” concluded the statement.
It also stated that the Gucci family members reserve the right to take actions to protect their name, image, and dignity as well as those of their loved ones.
According to an insider, despite the tone of the statement and the fact that Scott’s Scott Free shingle is not being sued, the Gucci family is not taking legal action against Universal.
Scott dismissed criticisms in the past when he spoke on BBC Radio 4’s Today last week.
