Over 5,600 people respond to Govt’s proposal for amending Forest Conservation Act

New Delhi, Nov 29, : The Centre reported Monday that the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change received more than 5,600 comments from different stakeholders regarding the proposal to amend the existing Forest Conservation ActV.

Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, responded to a question raised in the Lok Sabha by V.K.The minister stated that the consultation paper was also placed in the public domain in vernacular language.He added, "More Than 5,600 comments were received from various stakeholders, even those in vernacular language.

" The consultation paper was made public in October and is available for comment from all stakeholders.The paper called for the ease of clearing forest land for non-forestry purposes.
