Kolkata, Nov 25, : As the governor questioned the claims of investment made by Mamata Banerjee in the Bengal Global Business Summit(BGBS) in the last five year, the battle between the state government & the governor continued.
The governor refused to release a whitepaper on the investment when asked by the governor.

Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar wrote a two-page letter to the chief minister.He stated that “tall claims” regarding the “resounding success BGBS were not consistent with ground reality or the available data.

A White Paper covering all five editions would be a good way to generate confidence for investment.

He said, “I am certain you will pay attention to this and make available as soon as possible the information requested from this end with regard to the five editions BGBS and a White Paper on it.”

“You would agree that in order to attract investment, governance must be in accordance with constitutional prescriptions and rule law with due regard for democratic values and human rights.Transparency and accountability are all part of this.All these points are evident in all quarters.”There is a need for massive uplifting,” the stated.

He stated that he had written to the government on August 25, 2019, asking for information about the Bengal Global Business Summit’s five editions.

“Year-wise amount spent since 2016 to hold Bengal Global Business Summit.

Names of agencies/agencies that spent money on BGBS.Names of Event Companies for BGBS, and whether payment was made through FICCI or directly.

“Unfortunately, this information is not yet available.This has been going on for more than a year.This is not in accordance with Article 167 of Constitution.”I am also forced to inform you that the assurances given by you in your communication dated October 8, 2021 have not been fulfilled,” the governor stated.

“Neither the information requested under Article 167 of Constitution, including in regard to Bengal Global Business Summit, has been given, nor have the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, and the DGP called me,” he said.
