Government has imposed a 20% export tax on rice

New Delhi, Sep 8 : Due to the poor rain in major rice-producing states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal, the Centre on Thursday imposed a 20 percent duty on exports of different kinds of riceIn the Finance Ministry notification, 20 percent export tax on rice in husk milled, husked and milled rice was in place, and will be effective starting on September 9.

This move could help to reduce in the prices of rice across the country.

The move to impose a a 20 percent export duties on rice came after exports of wheat were prohibited in May.Inadequate rainfall in rice-producing states has led to concerns of inadequate production that has resulted in the imposition of export duties on the product.ans/ar.
