Panaji August 11, : Declaring that Goa was rich in minerals development, natural wealth and development the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, on Thursday claimed that it was because of these reasons , the Portuguese moved to Goa."Portuguese arrived in Goa and rule for over 400 years.

Goa wasnt poor; it was wealthy.

It was because of this, they moved to Goa.While they ruled for over 400 years in Goa the Goans definitely stole (our riches).Its not a sin, if we affirm that," Sawant said.

Sawant was speaking as he congratulated freedom fighters at the Aguada Fort in North Goa "Asias first medical school"" was founded in Goa.The first pharmacy college in Asia was in Goa and Asias first lighthouse was constructed in the Aguada fort in 1874.This means that Goa wasnt poor; it was wealthy," he said.
