But a ‘chance meeting’ with BJP’s Goa election In-charge Devendra Fadnavis in a starred hotel in the city at midnight Monday seems to have placed Congress state working president Aleixo Reginaldo into a tight spot. This ‘accidental meeting’ occurred at a moment when the Congress and BJP were forming strategies and shortlisting candidates to contest the 2022 Assembly elections in Goa.
The explanation given by Reginaldo may not have been accepted even though Girish Chodankar, chief of state Congress, appears to have believed it.However Reginaldo’s incessant questioning and ‘good relations’ with the leadership at state BJP might have put Congress MLA in a difficult spot.
After the meeting at midnight with Fadnavis ended, Reginaldo was interviewed by journalists.He stated that he arrived at the hotel in order to meet Congress strategist and that he didn’t expect to meet Fadnavis or Chief Minister Pramod Seeant.
I was informed that there was a strategist and that he was expected to meet me at the meeting.Reginaldo said that the meeting had been scheduled for 10 pm but was delayed by us stopping at a food stop on our way after we campaigned.”
I didn’t know that so many people were present, even the BJP election coordinator.Someone said that a strategist was there.Let us meet.To meet with the strategist, I went.
I was also able to meet the CM.It is the only political party that exists.Reginaldo stated that there is no way for me to join any other party.
Chodankar has been involved in several spats and disputes with Reginaldo.
On Tuesday, Chodankar said that he was backing the working president of the party.He stated it wasn’t practical for Congress leaders, to contact every hotel to see if any BJP officials were there.
We will ask the hotel staff to provide us with the guest list if that’s the case.We cannot enter any hotel if there are BJP leaders.That is how you get out.Chodankar asked how we can find out who was in the hotel.
Reginaldo, a leader of BJP was greeted at the hotel by Chief Minister Pramod Seeant.
Congress senior members are concerned about the constant chattering with Sawant by the Congress MLA.Reginaldo says that Sawant’s meetings with him were not due to any legislative tasks.
Our files are slow to move, but theirs move much faster as they come from the ruling dispensation.We have to beggars.It is the reality.
Reginaldo stated that everything we do is for the benefit of the public.
