Paris, December 1, : France’s epidemic situation is worsening, Olivier Veran, French Health Minister, has stated. He stated that this “continues be a sign of an increase in spread of the virus onto national territory, with an average daily number of infections which exceeds 30,000”, to the National Assembly on Tuesday.
France reported Tuesday 47,177 new Covid-19 case reports in the last 24 hours.This brings the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases to 7,675,504, Xinhua reported.
Gabriel Attal, spokesperson for the government, stated Tuesday that a case containing the Omicron variant was detected in La Reunion (an overseas territory of France in India Ocean).
Sunday’s report by the French Health Ministry identifies eight cases of Omicron variant in passengers who have visited Africa within the last 14 days.
France and several other European Union members have decided to suspend flights from seven countries in southern Africa as a preventive measure.
