Paris, Nov 26 : , French fishermen will block three ports and the Channel Tunnel on Friday to stop UK exports and demand that London speed up the delivery of fishing licences, the National Committee for Maritime Fisheries and Marine Aquaculture in Paris stated. According to Xinhua news agency, the committee stated that the goal of the action was to defend fishermen’s “justified demands” and prevent the UK from obstructing future negotiation.
The CRPMEM stated that it regretted the fact that, despite months of negotiations and London and Jersey refusing to issue fishing licenses to French professionals as per the trade and cooperation agreement between the UK (EU) and the UK (UK) on December 24, 2020.
It stated that the situation was “unsustainable for our fishermen”, putting them in a very fragile place by the uncertainty.

Many French fishermen have been denied the right to fish in UK territorial waters by Brexit.
Although the UK has agreed to grant fishing licences to boats that can show past fishing activity in its waters and have received a few, French fishermen claim that not enough of these licenses have been issued.
