He also expressed dismay at Rahul Gandhi’s incompetence and immature decisions as former party president.

Vaghela, a former member (MLA) of Vadgam constituency, resigned from all positions in Congress party on Saturday.

Vaghela stated in his resignation letter that the Congress had promised him a seat at Vadgam (a reserved seat of the Scheduled Caste).

The party didn’t keep its promise and supported Jignesh Mevani, an Independent candidate, in the 2017 state assembly election.

Vaghela wrote that despite this, he made every effort to help Jignesh mevani win the elections and he was willing to go along with the party.

“Being a Dalit, it is also possible for me to voice the concerns of my community.

I can also be a Dalit Neta, if I give fiery provocative speeches. My ideology states that the party should not be restricted to any one cast or community.

The party can only be strengthened if it supports all classes of society and adopts a conciliatory approach.

Vaghela stated that the efforts were made to lower the self-esteem of senior leaders of the party in Gujarat, by encouraging the so-called Dalit leaders, who create ill-will within the communities.

He won the Vadgam seat in 2012 assembly elections after defeating a cabinet minister from the Narendra Modi-led Gujarat government.
