Chennai, Nov 26 : Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister K.K.
S.S.R.Ramachandran said Friday that five people had been killed and that 10,500 people were being moved to relief centers after heavy rains hit the state on ThursdayHe stated that 10,500 people are currently being accommodated at relief centres in 12 districts, and that this includes 620 people who are staying in five relief centers of the Greater Chennai Corporation.The deaths were reported in Ariyalur and Sivaganga, Sivaganga, Tiruvannamalai.152 cattle heads also died.A total of 681 huts were destroyed and 120 concrete houses were also damaged.
Ramachandran stated that major reservoirs continue to receive high inflow, with incessant rainfall being recorded in catchment areas.He stated that Revenue and Disaster Management Departments were prepared for any eventuality and that police, fire and rescue services have been given information about the possibility of heavy rains in coming days.aal/vd #Thousand #displaced #Chennai #Tamil #Kollywood.
