Thiruvananthapuram : , The struggle for Anupama, a 22-year old mother from Kerala, to get her child back is over.Anupama, who has been fighting for her right for more than a month, has finally reached her goal. Adoptive parents in Andhra gave the baby boy to them.He will be given to Anupama & Ajith, his biological parents.She said that she’s much happier now.
“I am very content.Although I was able to see the baby briefly, I now feel very sad about his departure.The authorities have informed us that the case has been delayed by two days because the court posted it earlier for November 30,” Anupama said after having seen her baby briefly.
Ajith, her husband was also present and she was there for approximately 20 minutes.At the moment, she is in Kerala government custody.
A mere hour after she had seen her baby, the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology informed her that her baby was hers.
Anupama stated, “We can’t even express how we feel.We are so happy.Now we understand that we have to go through very few procedures in order to get our baby back.”
The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) was soon contacted.
Anupama, who had been eagerly awaiting the results of the DNA testing, said that she wants to be able to do a CBI investigation to get deeper.
“Yes.I’m excited.Now, I wait to hear my DNA results.Our son was named Aiden Anu Ajith.
As we know that the truth won’t come out if this is a CBI investigation, we will seek one,” Anupama said.She was protesting in front of Kerala State Council for Child Welfare.
Anupama is calling for action against officials from the Council as well the CWC.
Anupama won the first battle when a team of four members formed by the CWC on Sunday returned to Andhra Pradesh with the missing baby.
On Monday, both the baby and the couple were able to submit their DNA samples for testing.
This was the family court that acted first.
When it was due to give clearance for adoption, Anupama was helped by a massive media campaign.After the court had stopped following up on the legalization of the Andhra adoption, the Pinarayi Vijayan government ordered the CWC as well as KSCCWC both to quickly act.
Anupama is a SFI activist, grand-daughter of one of the most prominent yesteryear CPI/M leaders in the capital.However, it wasn’t until the couple approached media that things began to change in their favor.
Now all eyes are focused on her due date and that will be decided by the family court.
