FIA denies Mercedes’ request to not fine Verstappen because of aggressive defending Brazil

Doha, Nov 19, : Formula One stewards have rejected Mercedes request for a review of a decision to not penalise Red Bull’s Max Verstappen because of his controversial defense of Lewis Hamilton on Lap 48 at last weeks Sao Paolo Grand Prix.

Although the Race Director noted the move, the FIA stewards felt that there was no need to investigate.Verstappen was eventually defeated by Hamilton to win the race.

Mercedes, however, announced on Tuesday that they would seek a Right of Review of Verstappen’s decision to not investigate his actions.According to formula1.com, the stewards stated that "There will always exist some angles of footage because of limitations in technology and bandwidth" The stewards stated in a Friday statement that regardless of whether stewards decision are right or wrong and as in soccer referees decisions, it doesnt seem to be desirable that competitors can seek review of in-race discretionary choices up to two weeks later.Bs #Mercedes #Verstappen #aggressive #Brazil.
