Criticize Farm law repeal ‘Statement of Objects and Reasons.

New Delhi, Nov 28, : .The Centre’s attempt to calm down ongoing protests by publishing the list of businesses mentioning the repealing of the three farm laws in Lok Sabha on Monday seems not to have attracted positive responses.
The ‘Statement of Objectives and Reasons’ was circulated with the draft bill to Members of Parliament before the winter session of Parliament starts Monday. It has lines similar to Prime Minster Narendra Modi’s announcement last Wednesday, where he stated that the Centre is ready for the repeal of three of the controversial farm laws.

Point 5 of the ‘Statement of Objects and Reasons” read: “Even though only a small group of farmers are protesting against these laws. The Government has tried to sensitise them on the importance of farm laws and explain their merits through many meetings and other forums.

New avenues were created to allow farmers to trade their produce without removing existing mechanisms.Farmers were also free to choose the avenues they prefer, where they can obtain higher prices for their produce.

The Honourable Supreme Court of India has halted the operation of the above-mentioned farm laws. The Covid period saw farmers working hard to increase production to meet the nation’s needs.

As we celebrate the 75th year of Independence, ‘Azadi Kap Amrit Mahotsav’ – it is imperative that everyone join hands in the pursuit of inclusive growth.

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha, a group of farmers who had been agitating for more than a year to repeal the farm laws, reacted strongly to the tone adopted by the government.

“It is worth noting, that Bill number 143 of 2021, that seeks to recall the 2020 laws that led to massive historic protests by farmers of India in 2020, in its Statement of Objects and Reasons’, continues to defend these laws stoutly and mentions only that a small group of farmers are protesting the laws.It links the repeal of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with the ‘need to take everyone together onto the path of inclusive growth, and development’,” the SKM stated.

Manish Tewari, a spokesperson for Congress, took to Twitter to say: “Why rub in especially when @PMOIndia has apologized to farmers. In the statement of Objects and Reasons of The Farm Laws Repeal Bill 20,21 why not write “Even Though a Small Group of Farmers Are Protesting Against These Laws” which demands sacrifice of 700 odd Farmers who have died trying (sic).

The Prime Minister announced last week that the government had listed the bill to repeal the three farm laws on Monday, the first day in the winter session of Parliament. Both the Congress and the BJP have issued whips directing party members to attend Monday’s proceedings.
