Eye behind ‘Major Chandrakanth’ Passes Away

One of the prominent cinematographers of Southern Film Industry, Aloysius Vincent, died on Wednesday at 86 following prolonged illness.

Vincent is survived by wife Margaret and sons Ajayan Vincent and Jayanan Vincent who are also popular cinematographers.

Born in Calicut, Kerala on 14 June 1928, Vincent started his career as cinematographer with Telugu movie "Chandi Rani" in 1953.Later, he handled camera work for many Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi movies.

Vincent was credited with having introduced the zoom shot in Indian cinema.He worked as cinematographer in over 150 films, his last being 1997 Telugu film "Annamayya".

"Prem Nagar", "Alludugaru", "Allari Priyudu", "Bobbili Simham" are some of the movies that boast of his wonderful work.Vincents last movie is Annamaya after which the veteran cinematographer chose to retire.

Collaborating with almost all top actors of Tollywood, Vincent handled the cinematography with NTRs famous movies like Adavi Ramudu and Major Chandrakanth.Vincent also collaborated with Chiranjeevi in movies like ‘Aapathbandhavudu’ and ‘Gharana Mogudu’.

He also directed about 30 films, mostly Malayalam.With the news of Vincent’s demise, condolences poured in on Twitter by directors K.Raghavendra Rao, Harish Shankar, and many others.Aloysius Vincent is the father of noted Cinematographers Jayanan Vincent and Ajayan Vincent.

So, He left a great legacy to carry forward.RIP sir….
