New Delhi, Aug 22 : The Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday suspended Arava Gopi Krishna (IAS) the excise commissioner, as well as his deputy Anand Kumar Tiwari, after their names were discovered in the CBI investigation into suspected infractions in Delhi’s excise law (2021-22).
“The MHA has suspended Gopi Krishna, who was excise commissioner and Anand Kumar Tiwari, then deputy excise commissioner” an insider said on Monday.
The decision has been communicated to the Chief Secretary as well as the Principal Secretary (vigilance) who’s inquiry report into the scam of the excise was the basis of the LG’s suggestion for suspension.
The suspension was announced two days after Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, V.K.Saxena, had approved the beginning of discipline proceedings for’serious violations’ committed by eleven employees of the department of excise in relation with the excise policy for 2021-22.
On Friday the CBI had raided the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s home in connection with the suspected infractions in Delhi’s excise law.
Sisodia was just one of 15 names listed in the CBI FIR that was registered in the connection with the investigation.
