EU chief talks with Putin about Belarus and Ukraine

Brussels, Nov 25, : On Wednesday, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Vladimir Putin, Russian President, discussed the situation in Ukraine and Belarus in a telephone conversation, the EU chief announced via social media.

Michel announced details of the conversation via Twitter and stressed that "De-escalation is essential" and that "stability is vital." He also reminded Putin that Russia is responsible for a peaceful settlement in the eastern Ukraine.

In a statement, the Kremlin stated that both sides stress the importance of resolving this crisis in accordance with international humanitarian law.According to the Kremlin, Putin stated that the EUs intention to impose new sanctions on Belarus would be counterproductive.The Russian leader also pointed out the use of tear gas and stun grenades by Polish security forces and expressed hope that further violence against migrants could be avoided to avoid an escalation.int/sh #Putin #Belarus #Ukraine.
