Vi and Ericsson achieve 4Gbps speeds on India’s 5G network

Pune, Nov 26th : Ericsson, the Swedish telecommunications giant, announced Friday that it had reached speeds of 4Gbps using a 5G trial network created by Vi (earlier Vodafone Idea in the country)As part of 5G trials, the company displayed Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Fixed Wireless Access(FWA) as well as remote diagnostics.

Vi has set up a 5G trial network on the allocated 3.5GHz mid band and 26GHz mmWave bands in Pune.Ericsson has already deployed the 5G network in 98 live networks around the globe.It uses Ericsson Radios, Ericsson Dual Core Core and Ericsson Radios based on cloud native technology that includes 5G SA, 5G NSA, and LTE packet core functions "Previous generations of mobile technology were focused on consumer and personal communications.5G will serve Indian consumers and businesses and will unlock the potential of Industry4.0 for India," stated Amarjeet Singh (Vice President, Ericsson).Ericssons flexible Dual Mode Core’ is helping ecosystem partners and enterprises to showcase use cases that demonstrate 5Gs potential.

Consumers will benefit from 5Gs improved performance, high speed, reliability, and mobile broadband.This is expected to be a first use case for consumers once 5G is available in the country.
