A 54-year-old Indian woman who was found unconscious in a wheelchair near the luggage belt at Dallas International Airport in Washington has been rescued by paramedics.

Airport officials described the incident as "horrific".

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials said Tuesday that the victim had a permanent residence in the United States.She arrived at Washington airport on Sunday evening after a nearly 15-hour journey from Doha, Qatar.

The woman in a wheelchair at the luggage belt did not respond and the security personnel informed the CBP officials.Authorities arrived there and called US Customs and Border Protection Emergency Medical Technicians.

The federal agency said in a statement that they had been trying to save the womans life for ten minutes.Later, with the introduction of Airport Paramedics, the womans pulse began to beat for a while.She was rushed to a hospital.
