Chennai, December 7, 2007 : .An integrated avionics solution for drones and a home solution for blood cells counting were some of the best Indian students and start-ups created this year for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology “Swadeshi microprocessor challenge”.

<br/ A Ministry statement said that the Swadeshi Microprocessor Competition was launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in August to encourage technology-led innovation and keep the country at the forefront of digital adoptation.<br/ <br/ The Challenge was open to all students and start-ups.

It required contestants to tinker and invent with Swadeshi Processor IPs.<br/ <br/ At various points of the challenge, financial support was given to help develop the prototype of hardware and to incubate a startup for the participating teams.<br/ <br/ There were 6,170 total teams, with more than 10,000 participants.<br/ <br/ The MeitY provided 100 semi-finalists with IPs for VEGA, SHAKTI processors ported to FPGA boards.

Technical and financial support was also available to help develop Hardware Proof of Concept apps around them.<br/ <br/ The 30 most financially and technically viable teams were given technical and financial assistance in order to further develop their prototypes and present to the jurors during Azadi Kal Amrit Mahotsav, which MeitY celebrated from November 29 through December 3.<br/ <br/ Ten of the thirty teams were selected to win the challenge.They presented strategic solutions for various problems.

<br/ <br/ Vega FCS FT(AI Drone) was in the top position and won Rs 35 lakh.<br/ <br/ HW Design Labs came in second place with Rs 30 lakh to its FM RDS Utilities project.

<br/ <br/ Cytox won the third place for their cell count project, and was awarded Rs 25 lakh.<br/ <br/ All four teams shared fourth place and each received Rs 20 lakh checks.
