Panaji, Nov 28, : .Actor Dhanush’s outstanding performance in Tamil film ‘Asuran,’ directed by Vetrimaran, earned him the Best Actor Award from the BRICS Film Festival.
This award was presented alongside the 52nd International Film Festival of India, (IFFI), that ended here on Sunday. Interessingly, Dhanush had earlier this year won a National Award.
Dhanush was adjudged best actor, but Lara Boldorini won the Best Actor (female), at the festival, for her performance in “On Wheels”, a Brazilian film.
Two films shared the Best Film Award: the South African film titled ‘Barakat’, and the Russian film “The Sun Above Me Never Sets”.Lyubov Borizova has directed the Russian film, while Amy Jephta directed ‘Barakat.
The festival awarded Yan Han, a Chinese director, the Special Mention Award.
His film “A Little Red Flower” was selected.
The BRICS Film Festival will be held alongside the IFFI for the first time.
It featured films from Brazil, India, China, South Africa, and China.
