Delhi’s AQI rises and settles in the ‘poor’ category

New Delhi, Dec 8, 2008 : .Delhi’s AQI rose from a’very poor’ category to a ‘poor’ one on Wednesday morning.According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research, the levels of PM 2.5 and 10 pollutants were respectively at 101 and 179.
“The air quality over Delhi/NCT is expected to improve and remain within the poor to moderate category by December 8.The air quality is expected to remain in the poor category on December 9-10.The Outlook for the next 5 Days: According to estimates by the Air Quality Early Warning System, Delhi, the air quality will likely remain in poor category until December 13 and then deteriorate marginally between December 14 and 15.

Tuesday’s AQI in Delhi was at the lower end of the very poor’ category.

An AQI of between zero and 50 and considered ‘good’, 51 to 100’satisfactory, 101 to 200’satisfactory, 201 and 300 poor’, 301 to 400’very poor’ and 401 to 500’severe’.

Delhi-NCR woke up to a mostly clear sky.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature for the day is 25 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature at 10 degrees Celsius.

The relative humidity at 8.30 am was 93%.

According to IMD’s Tuesday forecast, the minimum temperatures will gradually fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in most of northwest India, including Delhi, over the next 4-5 day.

Similar drops in the minimum temperature are also possible in the eastern and central parts of the country.
