Delhi Teachers’ Association is blaming AAP government for defeat in DUTA elections

New Delhi, Nov 28, : Delhi Teachers Association (DTA), an AAP-led teachers organization, held the Arvind Kehriwal government responsible in the defeat of its candidates.

AAP fielded Suman as a candidate to the Delhi University Teachers Association Executive (DUTA).Suman, who was twice a member on the Academic Council, has also served on many committees at Delhi University.

He claims that he was the choice for all the teachers but lost the battle to become DUTA Executive because he didnt pay salaries to professors.All APP candidates lost the elections.

Suman addressed the disappointment expressed by the teachers and said that some professors at state-run colleges went ahead and urged people not to vote for the DTA candidate.He said that slogans such as "No salary, no vote" were raised within the varsity premises.

The furious staff also criticised Chief Minister Arvind Kajriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Singhia, and their "apathetic nature” towards the 12 colleges.The DTA addressed the discontent of faculty members about the non-payment of their salaries.

We will meet with the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister, and other officials to solve this problem.Suman also promised to meet Sisodia and Kejriwal.

The right-wing National Democratic Teachers’ Front (NDTF), Dr A.K., won the DUTA elections.Bhagi defeated Dr AbhaDev Habib, Left-backed Democratic Teachers’ Front (DTF), by 1,382 votes.

Bhagi received 3,584 votes, while Habib only got 2,202 votes.Dr.Premchand, the candidate for AAD-backed Congress, received 832 votes.Independent Shabana Azmi received only 263 votes.
