Delhi HC will hear the plea against Salman Khurshid’s book on Thursday

New Delhi, Nov 24, : The Delhi High Court will hear a plea for direction to stop publication, circulation, and sale of Salman Khurshid, former Union minister, for his alleged remarks about Hindutva.

Adv Vineet Jindal, petitioner, through Adv Raj Kishor Chaudhary, argued that Khurshids recently published book "Sunrise over Ayodhya : Nationhood in Our Times" had compared Hindutva with radical jihadist groups such as ISIS and Boko Haram.The comment was made in the chapter "The Saffron Sky", Page 113.It reads: "Sanatan Dharma and classical Hinduism, which were known to sages, saints, and sages, was being pushed aside [by a robust version] of Hindutva, by all measures, a political version comparable to jihadist Islam of recent groups like ISIS or Boko Haram," the plea read.It also stated that the equivalence between Hinduism and ISIS and Boko Haram was perceived as a negative ideology Hindus had been following, and that Hinduism is violent and inhumane.

Article 19(1) of the Constitution allows freedom of speech and expression.However, Article 19(2) may impose reasonable restrictions.

In a country like India where communal sentiments run deep and where veneration for certain historical and public figures is always accompanied by respect for their demi-god status it doesnt take long for malice to be covered with a toxic communal hue.Jindal had earlier filed a complaint to Delhi police and demanded an FIR on Khurshid under 153A, 153A and 298 of the IPC.These are cognizable offenses and very serious and that strict legal action be taken.jw/skp #Delhi #hear #Salman #Khurshids #Thursday.
