Abu Dhabi, Dec 5, : Deccan Gladiators defeated Delhi Bulls by 56 runs in Abu Dhabi to win their maiden Abu Dhabi T10 championship.Opening batters Andre Russell, and Tom Kohler–Cadmore put on a remarkable batting display, taking the winners to an impressive 159 runs without losing a wicket. Delhi Bulls set a difficult target and couldn’t find the momentum to chase it.They eventually lost by 56 runs on Saturday night.
Chandrapaul Hemraj tried his best to get things moving for the Bulls.He smacked Russell for two boundaries, and a six in fifth over.Hemraj lost partners at the other end.Hemraj had a great innings with 42 runs from 20 balls but was eventually dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka in the sixth over.
The Deccan Gladiators continued to put pressure on their opponents after Hemraj’s departure and eventually won the match.Wanindu Hasaranga, Odean Smith and Tymal Mills each picked up two wickets.
Andre Russell and Tom Kohler–Cadmore had earlier recorded the highest partnership in Abu Dhabi’s history T10.In just 10 overs, the opening batters forged a dynamite partnership of 159/0.Andre Russell pitched a thrilling innings of 90 runs in 32 balls.He was supported by Tom Kohler–Cadmore who scored 59 runs in 28 balls.
During his innings, Kohler-Cadmore hit five sixes and three fours.
Russell faced Dominic Drakes and hit him for two sixes in his third over.
He then struck two boundaries and a six from Dwayne Bravo in the fifth over.Romario Shepherd was also beaten by the West Indian, who hit two boundaries and a six in his eighth over.
The Gladiators posted an impressive total with Kohler-Cadmore hitting a six and four off Bravo’s bowling.
Shiraz Ahmed of Delhi Bulls, who took six wickets during the tournament, was awarded the ‘UAE Player Of The Tournament’ award.
Dominic Drakes was awarded the ‘Bowler of the Tournament.The speedster for Delhi Bulls picked up 19 wickets at the Abu Dhabi T10.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz was awarded the ‘Batter of the Tournament Award’.The tournament saw 343 runs scored by the Delhi Bulls batter.
Wanindu Hasaranga was named the Player of the tournament.With 21 wickets, the Deccan Gladiators leg-spinner was also among the most successful wicket-takers.
