Going into the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) can take heart from the fact that the last time the tournament took place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), they emerged as the champions.One of the key players for them, without a shred of a doubt, would be Andre Russell, the hulk-like all-rounder from the Caribbean Islands.
When Dre-Russ hits the leather, it stays hit.Even his mishits tend to clear the ropes more often than not, and when he finds the sweet-spot of the willow, the ball ends up in the stands and roofs of venues.In the 2019 edition, he turned out to be the Most Valuable Player (MVP), albeit the Knight Riders couldn’t make the playoffs after losing six matches in a row.
Russell had scored over 500 runs, averaging over 50 and striking in excess of 200.The Jamaican also smacked as many as 52 sixes.It’s also pertinent to note that he was the leading wicket-taker for the Men in Gold and Purple last season.
Needless to say, that KKR would again be looking up to Dre-Russ for some muscular knocks in the upcoming edition of the IPL.
