Sydney, Nov 28, : Australian Test skipper Pat Cummins revealed that Cricket Australia forced him to ‘confession’ in order to give him the job of leading his side for the Ashes series starting at the Gabba on Dec 8. After Tim Paine, a former Cricket Tasmania staffer, sex scandal involved a former Cricket Tasmania staffer, Paine voluntarily resigned as skipper of Australia’s Test team.
The pace bowling stalwart was named skipper of the Australian Test squad.Paine has since taken an indefinite hiatus from cricket.
Cummins was named Australia’s 47th Test captain.He was the first fast bowler to lead Australia since Ray Lindwall 65-years ago.News.com.au reported that Cummins was asked to “divulge all secrets he had prior to being appointed skipper”.
Two major scandals have ravaged Australian cricket in recent years.The first involved Steve Smith, former skipper, during the 2018 tour of South Africa and the second was Paine’s sexting scandal.

Cummins was selected by a five-member selection panel, which included George Bailey, chief selector of CA, Tony Dodemaide and Mel Jones, CA board member, CEO Nick Hockley, chairman Richard Freudenstein, and Tony Dodemaide.
Cummins also dismissed fears that the team would be disadvantaged by a lack of red-ball exposure this year.Many top Australian cricketers, including Cummins, Mitchell Starc and David Warner, have not had any competitive red-ball exposure in the last six months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cummins stated that the squad was ready for summer after the success at the ICC T20 World Cup.
After Saturday’s first training session, Cummins stated that he had “had” a good hitout.”We were able simulate match intensity really well.We had two big spells, and we bowlers had a big bowl.We’d be ready to go if the Test match was within the next few days.
