Chandy: Chennithala gets credit for Kerala being ranked as the least poor state

Thiruvananthapuram : Saturday, November 27 : Former Leader of Opposition in Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala gave credit to Oommen Chandy for Kerala being the least-poor state in the countryAfter Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan quickly shared the report from NITI Aayog on his Twitter handle, Chennithala made the statement.

Vijayan wrote on Twitter: "In terms of NITI Aayog’s Multi Dimensional Poverty Index (NITI Aayog), Kerala has the lowest percentage who are poor at 0.71%.This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to social welfare, which will be a tremendous boost to our efforts in eliminating extreme poverty." Chennithala countered him by pointing out that the report was based upon the Aayogs 2015-16 study and Chandy should be credited for it "The policies and programmes of the Chandy government won many accolades.

Even though the finances were poor, the state government made sure that the people of the state received everything they desired." Now, everyone is wondering if things are the same in our state.

The 2020-21 NITI Aayog Report will be out and its uncertain if Kerala can keep the number one spot." wrote Chennithala.
