This number rose to 182 on Friday.
On Thursday morning, at least 66 students tested positive for the disease and 116 more were confirmed to be infected later in the day.

Sources at colleges said that the students contracted the disease after they attended a function in the auditorium on November 17.

All Covid-19-infected students have been fully vaccinated, and their symptoms are not severe.

There have been no confirmed cases of Covid outside the campus or in the surrounding area.

District Commissioner Nitesh Patel has asked people to get tested immediately at the nearest health centers if they have any Covid symptoms.

He appealed to everyone to take precautions and follow the Covid-19 guidelines.

The medical college employs approximately 3,000 people. All will be tested. He said that anyone who tests positive will be quarantined.

Already, two hostels were sealed.Infected students are being treated in their hostel rooms and given food.

All possible measures are being taken to stop infection spreading and the movement of people is strictly restricted.

It is believed that the infection is contained within the student group and has not spread outside.

Patil stated, “We will control them within this cluster.”

The virus was also found in 34 students at an international boarding school in Bengaluru, which led to the closure of the college and the establishment of online classes.

The government and the health department continue to appeal to people to not neglect social distancing or use masks in public places.

In the last week of Oct, at least 32 students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Galibeedu, near Madikeri, were positive for Covid-19.

The authorities were able stop the spread of the infection and all students have now recovered.
