Bengaluru, Nov 27, : .Karnataka has taken stringent precautionary steps in response to the increase in Covid-19 cases and the threat posed the Omicron variant of the virus.
On Saturday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bombmai presided over a high-level meeting to discuss this matter.It decided to increase screening at airports for international passengers and to make RTPCR reports mandatory for all those who arrive from Kerala and Maharashtra.

A discussion was also held about administering the booster dose as part of the plan to stop the third wave Covid-19 attacks in the state.

“We have asked the Union government to allow the administration of the booster dose, especially to the front-line workers,” Minister for Revenue Rashok said.Minister for Revenue R.Ashok stated that the Centre may give the go ahead in one week.

A large portion of the population has been vaccinated.He said that the need for a booster dose is still being felt, particularly by front-line workers who were vaccinated in the beginning of the vaccination campaign.

The state has requested that the Centre administer the Booster dose to front-line workers.Ashok stated that the Centre will likely respond positively to the request of the state.

Bommai instructed officials to launch an aggressive campaign to find those who haven’t received the second dose of vaccine and to cover them as soon as possible.

The meeting decided to temporarily ban cultural programmes in schools, colleges, and make second doses of vaccination mandatory for people working in government offices and malls.Revenue Minister R.Ashok spoke while briefing media personnel about the decisions made at the meeting.

The meeting’s key decisions included a mandatory RTPCR negative report for all those who entered the state from Kerala or Maharashtra and a compulsory RTPCR test for students from Kerala who arrived within the last 16 days.

Students who have received a negative RT-PCR report from hostels would need to have the test again on the 7th of the following day.
