New Delhi Environment Minister: Construction is again banned

New Delhi, Nov 29, : Mondays ban on construction and demolition activities in Delhi was implemented by the Delhi government to stem the rise of air pollution.

Rai said that construction and demolition activities in Delhi were being stopped due to rising levels of air pollution.He also stated that the Delhi government had decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 5,000 for those workers "Besides, non-CNG or non-electric trucks from beyond Delhi have been banned until December 7, to reduce vehicular emissions," he stated.

He also said that the third phase of "Red Light On, Gaadi Off" campaign will be extended until December 18.Further, the minister informed that schools, colleges, and other educational institutes in the capital were opened as of today.He said that buses were started in 14 colonies in Delhi, where Delhi government employees live.

All schools in the capital were closed on November 21 until further orders from the Commission for Air Quality Management in the region of the capital and adjacent areas.This was due to the increasing levels of air pollution.

The AQI of the capital continued to hover at the upper end between thevery poor andsevere categories since Diwali.Air quality was deteriorated due to changes in wind direction, stubble burning, and the bursting of firecrackers.
