Cong, VCK sore over being ‘sidelined’ for law posts in TN

Chennai, Dec 3 : The main alliance partners of the ruling DMK, the Congress and the Viduthalai Chiruthagal Katchi (VCK), feel that they have been sidelined by the DMK in allocating posts of public prosecutors and government pleaders in various courts of Tamil Nadu.

The Congress and the VCK allege that even after 1000 posts are available in various courts across Tamil Nadu, both the parties were not given their due share.

A senior Congress leader told IANS, "We gave a list of lawyers who are party workers and local leaders to be accommodated in the posts of public prosecutors, government pleaders as well as Additional Advocate General but unfortunately we were sidelined and not given our due share."He said that Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President K.S.Alagiri will take up the matter with Chief Minister M.K.Stalin.Party leader and advocate at the Madurai bar, S.K.Balasubramanian told IANS the "Congress party has been with the DMK through thick and thin and the partys local leaders have to be given some minor posts like public prosecutor but it was not done."The Congress had given a list of 17 lawyers for the post of law officers in the Madras High Court.

There are 200 vacancies of law officers but no one from the Congress list was accommodated.Congress leaders complain that almost 95% of the posts have been filled but Congressmen are yet to get any post. The party is sore about this.
