New Delhi, Aug 25 : The Congress has criticised the Union government’s decision to market fertiliser under one brand as a part of the Pradhanmantri Bharatiya Janurvarak Parayojna (PMBJP).
Congress chief Jairam Ramesh posted on Twitter, “Nothing that the Sarvavyapi self-promotional activities of the Sarvavyapi should shock us any more.

In a memorandum released on Wednesday in a memorandum on Wednesday, the Union government announced that with the consent of Competent Authority, it is decided to implement the ‘One Nation One Fertiliser’ idea by introducing a Single Brand and logo for Fertilizers under the Fertilizer subsidy scheme , namely PMBJP.

“The one brand name for UREA, DAP, MOP and NPKs and others.will be BHARAT UREA, BHARAT DAP, BHARAT MOP and BHARAT NPK for all Fertiliser Companies, State Trading Entities (STES) and Fertiliser Marketing Entities (FMEs).A logo indicating the Fertiliser subsidy scheme, namely PMBJP will be displayed on the bags of fertiliser.”

The order states that the printing will be done on only one side of the fertilizer’s bag.Two-thirds of the sides of the bag of Fertiliser will be used for a new brand logo and name with PMBJP and the other third will be used to display the Fertiliser company’s name logo and other information as specified in various rules and regulations.

“The Fertiliser Companies are advised to follow the other conditions and terms of Metrology Act, Packaged Commodities Act and order No.1 /87-Fert Law, dated 09th November 1987, which was issued by Department of Agriculture and Cooperation under FCO 1985,” it said.

The new bags that are part of the “One Nation One Fertiliser concept will be available beginning on October 2 and companies will have four months until December 31 to eliminate the old-fashioned bags from the market.
