Coimbatore police remain on alert when drug dealers become inventive

Chennai 10th August : The Coimbatore city police are on high alert following the discovery that drug peddlers have come up with new methods of promoting the substance in the city, specifically among students in colleges and even schools.

The drug laced with chocolate is being targeted to be sold to school children.The police team that is charged with cracking down on this on this type of drug has stated that it is the most simple version of "Ganja" that could be offered in the market, since chocolate is not detected by cops.

They also mentioned that the lucrative returns on the table for peddling peddlers have resulted in some being agents of the racket, and students who were once addicted to the drug have become pushers to earn cash for their addictions.Coimbatore City police commissioner V.Balakrishnan told IANS that the chocolate ganja is obtained from Rajasthan and is sold in the Coimbatore market.While a number of peddlers have been detained and questioned, others arent in the loop since several gangs that are independent operate in the market.

Police recently had two meetings with college officials and have begun awareness programs at each college and its premises.The city police have created special teams that were deployed to find the sources of the substance in Rajasthan as well as in Ghaziabad.aal/shb.
