Mumbai, Dec 5, : New Zealand spinner Ajaz Ptel received a video compilation from Shane Jurgensen of all his international wickets, after he failed to make an impression in the first Test against India at Kanpur.This was to boost his confidence for his second Test at Wankhede Stadium. Patel was able to get a boost of confidence from his mentor and coach, after he had struggled to find his rhythm in the first Test.He finished the Green Park with 2/90 and 1/6 respectively.
The 30-year-old Central Districts player scored a historic perfect-10 in India’s first innings to join Jim Laker of England, and Anil Kumble from India, as the only three bowlers in the history to take all 10 wickets in an innings.
“Shane really fizzed this one up.I’m honest and told you, I didn’t have my rhythm in the last game.Shane sent me a clip showing me against the world.
It was basically a clip of all my wickets against different opposition.That was what got me excited about this game.about coming to Mumbai.Patel stated that he is always finding new ways to get the best from the guys in a video released today by New Zealand Cricket (NZC).
Patel stated that he was overwhelmed by the overwhelming number of encouraging words and messages from around the globe, including Anil Kumble and Sir Richard Hadlee (New Zealand’s legendary all-rounder), who had previously held the record for the best bowling figures by New Zealanders — 9/52 against Australia.
“To receive messages from such incredible cricketers and legends in the game, it’s been very special for me.I thank them all for their kind words.Although I hope to get to all of them, it’s overwhelming to receive so many messages.
However, it’s very special to be mentioned alongside legends and to receive messages from legends.
Patel, who moved from Mumbai with his family when he turned eight, was asked if he was thinking about the honours list.”Yeah, it was four-fer, and I was like, ‘wow! I would just make certain I get five to make my name on the honours board forever’.Patel said, “I guess it’s definitely going to be up there now.”
He said it was a special occasion for him and New Zealand as a whole.
“Obviously, it’s an important day for me and for New Zealand.
To have a New Zealand bowler up on that stage is very special.I am grateful to my family for their support, my extended families, and my cousins, who have always supported me with a lot of love and support.It’s an amazing, incredible achievement for me.I never imagined that something like this would happen in cricket.
He said, “But here I stand in Mumbai with 10 wickets against my name.It’s very special.”
