CISF Delhi and ITBP Jalandhar put on a good show at the 70th All India Police Hockey

Bengaluru, Dec 6 : On day five of the prestigious 70th All India Police Hockey Championships being hosted by the Karnataka State Police here at the Bangalore Hockey Stadium, CISF Delhi, ITBP Jalandhar, Manipur Police and Jharkhand Police registered big wins in their respective group stage matches for men, on Monday.

In the women’s category, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) clinically demolished Maharashtra State Police’s defence to defeat them 11-0 in their pool B match.

Anjika (26’, 48’, 58’) scored a hat trick of goals.Albina Tirkey (3’), Ranjita Minj (4’), Ranjita (9’, 51’), Anjika Preeti (2’, 53’), Mukta Mundu (52/52’), Darshana Rani (56’) also contributed to the SSB score-line.

Meanwhile, the CISF Delhi men’s team continued their fine form in the tournament as they registered yet another convincing victory in their pool G match.They beat Jammu & Kashmir Police by 8-3 to keep their hopes alive for the quarterfinals.

Abhash Sharma (28’, 40’) and Niraj Yadav (33/33’) each scored a fine double each.Anjel Minz (16’), Skipper Harpreet Sing (17’), Adnan Wasim (41/1) and Ashoka Kumar Soni (47/7) all contributed to CISF Delhi’s big margin win.Jammu & Kashmir Police’s Jaspreet Sing (45′, 56’) scored twice, while Karnjeet Sing (53′), bagged a goal.

ITBP Jalandhar also remained determined in their group stage performance and won another win today in their pool H match.

Kerala Police was defeated 12-0 by the team led Davinder Singh.Sunil Kujur (10′), 47′, Jaswinder Singh (13/26′), Vinod Yodav (16′, 45’), Shiraj Alam (20′), Ashish Singh (20′), Gagandeep Singh (20/22′), Gurvinder Singh (23/23′), MC Meetei (51’) and SN Topno (54’).

Maharashtra State Police lost to Manipur Police in a thrilling pool F match for men after a strong start to their match.Maharashtra State Police was able to exert pressure on their opponents early in match by scoring two goals in each quarter through Satyajeet Seeant (6′) Prithviraj Salaunkhe (12′).

After defending their score in a goalless second quarter, they lost the momentum in the third quarter and Manipur Hockey made a comeback.To narrow Maharashtra’s lead down to 1-2, Rabi Kant (41′), scored first.

In the final quarter, Manipur scored two more goals through Purnachandra L (54’) and Gunamani N 59′.This made the match 3-2.

Jharkhand Police too continued their good show in the tournament as they clinched yet another win in pool E for men.They beat Chhattisgarh Police by 2-0 to keep them in contention for a quarter-final berth.It was goals by Sunil Lugun (16′) and Sunit Ekka (40′) that ensured Jharkhand the winning points.
