Hyderabad to host the Centre of Excellence for Flow Chemistry

Hyderabad, Nov 25, : On Thursday, the Telangana government announced the establishment of a multi-industry-supported innovation and technology hub in Hyderabad for flow chemistry.This will allow for greater integration of its techniques during pharma R&D, and greater adoptions of continuous synthesis for the manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
In the presence of Industries Minister K.T Rama Rao, and Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, a consortium agreement was signed for the establishment of the centre of excellence in flow chemistry.

G.V.Reddy, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd’s Co-Chairman, and Managing Director, was elected.Prasad, Dr Satyanarayanachava, CEO of Laurus Labs, and Chief Executive Officer of Hyderabad Pharma City Shakthi Nagappan, as well as Dr Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences Director Srinivas Oruganti, signed the agreement.

This hub will function as a Center of Excellence (CoE).It is being established at Dr Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences.A research institute of global eminence.It will receive funding from Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.and Laurus Labs.

The CoE will provide scientific mentorship and support to world-renowned scientists such as Prof Goverdhan Mehta (University of Hyderabad), Prof Oliver Kappe, University of Graz, Austria, and Prof Shu Kobayashi, University of Tokyo.

The Telangana government will provide strategic support and scale-up for the hub by encouraging more companies to join the consortium and reap the benefits.

K.T.K.T.Rama Rao stated that this hub would enable the Indian pharma industry to make a paradigm change towards incorporation modern approaches from R&D and manufacturing, and migration to greener, more sustainable processes.

“We are committed to the growth and consolidation of our leadership position in life sciences.” Jayesh Ranjan, a joint representative of DRILS and Government of Telangana, said that the hub would be established to help pharma companies in the area build scientific capabilities, process development, and training.”

Nagappan stated that CoE is another milestone for accelerating the growth in the Life Sciences sector in the State.This is part the larger effort to make the state a $100 billion life sciences ecosystem by 2030.

Prasad stated that they were pleased to be part of the Telangana government’s collaborative effort to bring the most recent technologies in flow chemistry to both the API and intermediate industries as well as to the state.”As early adopters of sustainability as a core value we look forward to contributing towards the creation of deep local expertise for sustainable and green manufacturing processes.”

Hyderabad is known as the life sciences capital in India and a major life sciences hub in Asia-Pacific.The city is home to more than 800 pharmaceutical companies and contributes about 35% of India’s total pharmaceutical production.
