Assessment of rain-related damage by the central team at Chennai

A group of officials from the Central government, headed by Rajiv Sharma Joint Secretary, NATGRID Ministry of Home Affairs has arrived in Chennai to assess the damage caused by the recent rainfalls in Tamil NaduThis team will determine if floods could be considered severe in the state.

Final recommendations will be made by the team to Central government for further assistance.V.Irai Anbu (Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu), and other officials were present during discussions.The Chief Secretary will be meeting with the team.

A team from Union Territory of Puducherry will visit areas affected by flooding.On Wednesday, the high-ranking team of officials will be returning to Delhi and will provide a report to Disaster Management Division of Ministry of Home Affairs in less than a week.
