CBI writes to 6 banks asking for information of the accounts of Anubrata Mondal and Kins

Kolkata 18 August : After securing the fixed deposits of about Rs 16.97 crore that were held by Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mandal, his daughter and a few relatives The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently trying to trace other deposit information of the Mondal family.

CBI sources have said that bank officials have been asked to provide the information of the credit and debit transactions in these accounts in the past few years."What we have uncovered in the form of fixed deposits is only the top of the iceberg.

The actual portion of the profits of the illicit trade facilitated by the people in the spotlight will be much greater," a CBI official said.Central agency sleuths have also found numerous acres of land spread across distinct areas in Birbhum in the district in which Mondal remains the district secretary of Trinamool Congress, which is owned by Mondal either as an individual or in partnership with his daughter Sukanya Mondal.

The land parcels are spread throughout the Bolpur, Gayeshpur and Kalikapur areas in Birbhum district.A few of the land plots are situated near the adjacent National Highways which is where the cost of the land is extremely high.

The CBI would like to investigate Sukanya Mondal in connection with the fixed deposits and bank accounts in her name.The day before, a group of four CBI officials and one female officer, visited Mondals ancestral home in Bolpur.

But, she refused to entertain and respond to any questions from the investigators.The sleuths of the central agency have already requested the special court of the CBI located in Asansol in West Burdwan district under which Bolpur is the defendant, to obtain an arrest warrant for Sukanya Mondal.src/dp.
