New Delhi, Nov 28, : Sources said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has issued a lookout note against Mohammad Umar (son of former Lok Sabha MP Atiq Ahmed) over his alleged involvement with a kidnapping investigation. Umar was charged with extorting money from a real estate broker and assaulting him in December 2018.
Umar was arrested by a CBI special court on November 24th after he failed to respond to the summons or appeared before the Court.
According to the FIR filed in the case, Umar allegedly kidnapped Mohit Jaiswal, a realtor, and took him to Deoria, where he was forced into executing a sale deed.
The Supreme Court transferred the case to CBI, which has indicted 12 people (including Umar) in an interim charge sheet.
Atiq Ahmad is currently being held at Sabarmati Central Prison, Ahmedabad.
Atiq, a five-time legislator and a one-time MP has more than 90 criminal charges against him, including those of murders and abductions, illegal mine, extortion and intimidation.
On the orders of the Supreme Court in 2019, he was moved to Gujarat from Uttar Pradesh.
